Process

So here is just a little bit about how i make the pieces pictured below.
They are made out of either stoneware or porcelain, wheel thrown. After they are leather hard i burnish them with a metal spoon. Then they are bisque fired to cone 010 and then i Ash Fire them. I the second firing i fill a metal trash can with sawdust, straw, scraps of hardwoods, metal wires, and other combustible materials. Then after they have smoke in the kiln for 2-3 hours i let them cool, them them off and apply floor polish to them and buff them until they reach a glossy surface.
